Over the last month, several videos submitted for approval didn't include titles, descriptions and/or tags/keywords. After repetitious correction requests, it's been brought to the administrators' attention that some rules and guidelines for video submissions are in order.

  1. Search archives for existing copy of media - save us both the time and trouble by checking to see if someone else has already posted the same content.
  2. Be sure to include title, description and tags - submissions not including any of these three will no longer be accepted. We need to be able to find the content later too, and without proper information, your video will be lost amongst the masses.
  3. Any duplicate video submissions will be removed with the original video submission remaining intact and a notification of removal sent to the poster of the duplicate content.
  4. Links for multi-part videos are essential to be considered for a feature - let's not make people hunt and peck for your valuable content. Copy and paste multi-part video website addresses directly into the description so all of us can easily watch parts 1, 2, 3, ... etc.

Should you have any questions, concerns or considerations, please post them below.

I doubt this is the situation to which you are referring, but last week, when I hit the 'ok' to embed a vid, my page froze and I assumed the video hadn't loaded -- but it had and you approved it several hours later. Then I went back and wrote the description afterwards. I intended to do it all at once, but at the time I was having connectivity problems with your site. It could be that this has happened to someone else out there too. Apologies for any difficulty it caused you. Like I said: the vid description was subsequently added -- I think your guidelines are sensible and good... :)

In fact, benjis007, this notice isn't specific to one person or one circumstance. We had a brief admin meeting yesterday, and this matter, among others such as duplicate submissions, was brought forth.

Rules & guidelines were simply setup before matters get too out of hand.
