Crown attorney in Ottawa may have picked up Mexican swine flu that killed 20

Health officials looking for links to Mexico outbreak

By Mohammed Adam and Lee Greenberg, The Ottawa CitizenApril 24, 2009Comments (2)

OTTAWA - A Cornwall Crown attorney who returned from Mexico with a mysterious illness is believed to be one of a handful of people in Ontario who may be linked to an outbreak that is confounding health authorities, provincial officials say.

Guy Simard, 47, was airlifted to The Ottawa Hospital in late March and admitted into the intensive care unit, a hospital official said Thursday. Simard spent 11 nights in hospital before being released April 9.

Ontario officials confirm they have been warned to be on the lookout for unusual illnesses in Canadians returning from Mexico.

The outbreak has Canadian public health officials scrambling to discover the nature of the deadly flu-like illness that has already killed 20 people in Mexico and has left that country’s medical authorities without any answers.

According to Dr. Danielle Grondin, the acting assistant deputy minister for infectious diseases, what is known so far of the the mysterious illness — often called severe respiratory illness (SRI) — is that it strikes healthy people aged 25-44 years and quickly worsens. The outbreak is confined largely to the south and central parts of Mexico, and of the 137 people who have been struck by the unknown virus, 20 have died. Very little is known about the virus or how it spreads, but it is being described in Mexican media as SARS-like.

Grondin, however, said that the description is wrong. From what is known by Canadian authorities so far, it does not appear to be a SARS-like outbreak, she said. She hopes that 51 samples from Mexico that are now being tested at the infectious diseases laboratory in Winnipeg will soon provide some important clues.

Grondin said Canadian authorities are doing everything to help Mexico get to the bottom of the outbreak.

As a precaution, public health authorities, family physicians and hospitals across the country have been placed on high alert to look for any unusual flu-like symptoms in patients. The government’s pandemic surveillance alert has been increased to a state of high vigilance. The federal government, however, has not as yet issued a travel ban to Mexico but is warning prospective Canadian travellers to be vigilant and take precautions against flu.

“There is no evidence as of now that the illness in Mexico is an illness like SARS,” Grondin said.

“It is serious in Mexico, but nothing in Canada. At this point, there are no clusters of SRI in Canada. There are no health concerns for Canadians.”

Dr. Arlene King, who leads the Centre for Immunization and Respiratory Infectious Diseases at the Public Health Agency of Canada, said her organization just learned about the severe respiratory outbreak in the “last couple of days.”

“There are pneumonia outbreaks, probably of an unknown origin at this point in time, occurring in Mexico,” King told a news conference Thursday, where she was named the province’s new chief medical officer of health.

“A number of different clusters have occurred over the last month or so … and these have obviously created concern related to their potential to get larger and to spread outside Mexico.”

According to reports, Guy Simard’s illness was considered life-threatening at one point. He was attached to a ventilator and received at least one blood transfusion, according to the Cornwall Standard-Freeholder.

On Thursday, the province’s acting chief medical officer of health, Dr. David Williams, said Simard’s case is one of about 10 being looked at for links with a severe respiratory outbreak in Mexico.

“We haven’t ruled it out and we haven’t ruled it in either. It’s still (under) investigation,” he told reporters Thursday.

“It starts off as a respiratory illness and it just gets worse and worse. It’s quite severe. We’re not talking just a mild issue.”

Grondin told reporters in Ottawa that it is unlikely that the illness of the patient treated at The Ottawa Hospital is related to the Mexican outbreak, but she said the situation is being monitored closely.

Ottawa Hospital spokeswoman Allison Neill said that hospital staff were unaware of the unusual nature of Simard’s illness when he was admitted in late March.

“We would only learn that this week,” she said.

“Even with this patient coming in from Cornwall and us not knowing what was going on … all the proper protection and procedures were in place at that point. Our professionals have no real concerns.”

Simard was released in “good condition” on April 9. He has still not returned to his duties in the Crown attorney’s office. He reportedly may suffer permanent lung damage due to the illness. An e-mail to Simard’s work account was not returned Thursday.

Neill says The Ottawa Hospital hasn’t seen any other patients with similar conditions.

“We’ve not seen any other activity in any other patients or staff,” she said.

Pressed by reporters in Ottawa on why the federal government is allowing Canadians to travel to a country where 20 normally healthy people have died suddenly from an unknown disease, Grondin said it is not up public health authorities to tell Canadians where to travel. She said the information public health authorities have so far doesn’t warrant a travel ban. She those intending to travel to Mexico should make sure they’ve had their flu vaccine and take other precautions, such as washing their hands. They should also see their doctor if they have a cough that also includes sneezing.

But Grondin said the travel advisory could change, depending on the results of the tests being done in Winnipeg.

“At this stage, it is not for us to close borders. We don’t want to generate undue scare,” she said.

The Weaponized Flu Pandemic, WPF, Appears to Have Begun
"It first looked mostly like a swine virus but closer analysis showed it is a never-before-seen mixture of swine, human and avian viruses, according to the CDC."
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N24524032.htm
Remember, information is appearing which says that the new virus is a "strange brew" of swine flu, avian flu and human flu. Such "Strange Brews" do not occur by themselves. They occur in laboratories where mad men/women and their murderous gutless, spineless technicians and helpers assist them.

Both the WHO and the CDC said there was no need to alter travel arrangements in Mexico or the United States."

I believe, on the contrary, that you SHOULD alter you travel plans. If you have any means to, or reason to, or thoughts of, being outside the US and Mexico RIGHT NOW, do it. Get a ticket and get out. Why? Because the flu may not sicken or kill you, but the forced vaccinations very well may.
Vaccines, an uninsurable risk, are damaging and deadly at the best of times and have never been proven either safe or effective, despite the near-religious fervor of their well-funded supporters. Despite the total lack of scientific evidence that the antibodies produced by an irritated immune system provide protection for people against what they were injected for, epidemics continue to occur primarily in vaccinated populations (just as Avian Flu continued to appear in vaccinated flocks living in industrial conditions). But epidemics make for great crowd control opportunities and for wonderful population reduction exercises.

Mexican swine flu outbreak a man-made pandemic?
Monday Apr 27th, 2009 6:26 PM

A company that delivered contaminated vaccines with live avian flu and human flu viruses earlier this year is now to lead the charge for designing vaccines for the Mexican Swine Flu outbreak.

According the Chicago Breaking News Center Baxter International, Inc. will take a leading role in creating a vaccine for the latest outbreak:

"Deerfield-based medical product giant Baxter International Inc. is working with the World Health Organization on a potential vaccine to curb the spread of the swine flu outbreak in Mexico, the company confirmed today. Baxter, which has a growing vaccine business, has worked with foreign countries in the past to develop vaccines for the H5N1 virus commonly known as bird flu. Baxter has a cell-based technology that allows the company to more rapidly produce vaccines in the event of a pandemic than a decades-old method that uses eggs to process vaccines and can take weeks or even months longer." See "Baxter to work to contain Mexico flu outbreak"

This is a significant development due to the fact that the Baxter International, Inc., is still being investigated by the World Health Organization and the European Center for Disease Control as to why, and how, they mixed live avian flu (H5H1) viruses with a human flu (H3N2) viruses, which, had they been administered, could have set of a global pandemic earlier this year. According to authorities, this contamination could not have been a mistake due to industry and government enforced lab safety protocols designed to prevent such contamination. For instance, Baxter International adheres to something called BSL3 (Biosafety Level 3) lab safety protocols that put in place to prevent cross-contamination of materials. As explained on Wikipedia:

“Laboratory personnel have specific training in handling pathogenic and potentially lethal agents, and are supervised by competent scientists who are experienced in working with these agents. This is considered a neutral or warm zone. All procedures involving the manipulation of infectious materials are conducted within biological safety cabinets or other physical containment devices, or by personnel wearing appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment. The laboratory has special engineering and design features.”

If Baxter were following BSL3 procedures this contamination could only be explained through 1: either gross negligence or 2: willful contamination. So, why would a company that was caught recently distributing live avian and human flu vaccines, perhaps with the intent to stage a global flu pandemic, be allowed to develop a vaccine for the World Health Organization to combat the new swine flu outbreak? This defies logic and a good explanation... that is, unless logic and explanation is a bad one. For instance, we might want to contemplate that a man-made epidemic could be a useful tool to create the conditions for greater control over society by creating the appearance that a government is protecting citizens, while at the same time asking citizens to give up much of their freedoms and liberties. Also, there is the added benefit that one can make enormous profits if one has the cure. Should we immediately dismiss such unpalatable notions when in our recent history we have seen people in high places in government and industry using fear to profit from such scenarios? As Joseph Mercola writes:

"Not long ago, President Bush sought to instill panic in this country by telling us a minimum of 200,000 people will die from the avian flu pandemic, but it could be as bad as 2 million deaths in this country alone. This hoax is then used to justify the immediate purchase of 80 million doses of Tamiflu, a worthless drug that in no way shape or form treats the avian flu, but only decreases the amount of days one is sick and can actually contribute to the virus having more lethal mutations. So the U.S. placed an order for 20 million doses of this worthless drug at a price of $100 per dose. That comes to a staggering $2 billion. We are being told that Roche manufactures Tamiflu and, in a recent New York Times article, they were battling whether or not they would allow generic drug companies to help increase their production. But if you dig further you will find that a drug was actually developed by a company called Gilead that 10 years ago gave Roche the exclusive rights to market and sell Tamiflu... ...If you read the link below from Gilead, you'll discover Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was made the chairman of Gilead in 1997. Since Rumsfeld holds major portions of stock in Gilead, he will handsomely profit from the scare tactics of the government that is being used to justify the purchase of $2 billion of Tamiflu."

Rumsfeld and the Bush administration also tried to scare the population into buying and stockpiling Vistide, a vaccine to combat a disease that is virtually extinct, that is, except in labs -- smallpox. F. William Engdahl writes in the article "Tamiflu, Vistide and the Pentagon Agenda":

"The scare around smallpox and what to do was curiously similar then as it is today against Bird Flu pandemics. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld at that time ordered members of the Armed Forces to be inoculated against smallpox, an inoculation with horrendous side-effects. Rumsfeld’s smallpox package also included ordering Pentagon stockpiling of a drug named Vistide, supposedly to minimize side-effects of smallpox infection should it occur. The Bush Administration had made repeated attempts to convince the public and above all, the health and medical profession to go with mass inoculation against smallpox. In 2002 the CDC and certain high Administration officials were calling for pre-emptive smallpox inoculation of broad sectors of the population against threat of terrorists unleashing the pox. The Government began stockpiling hundreds of millions of smallpox vaccine doses."

As we know, fear sells — sells policy; sells products; sells freedoms. It even sells movies. The script from V for Vendetta sums up the motivations of a fascist elite:

"The socially-conservative and openly fascist Norsefire party led a purge to restore order; enemies of the state (Muslims, Jews, blacks, homosexuals, communists) were kidnapped by the secret police during the night. The country was divided over the loss of freedom until a bioterrorist attack occurred, killing about 80,000 people. The fear generated by the attack allowed Norsefire to silence opposition and win the next election by a landslide. A cure for the virus was discovered soon afterwards by the Norsefire company, Viadoxin. With the silent consent of the people, Norsefire turned Britain totalitarian, with their leader Adam Sutler as High Chancellor. The virus had been engineered by Norsefire as a plot to gain power, through deadly experimentation on "social deviants" and political dissidents at Larkhill detention center. V had been one of the prisoners, but instead of being killed by the experiments, he had gained heightened mental and physical abilities. V eventually destroyed the center and escaped, vowing to take revenge on Norsefire's regime."V for Vendetta Movie Description

Are we beginning to see another example of truth mimicking fiction? (It has been reported by various news organizations that military flights have increased dramatically during the month of April at San José's Mineta Airport, right before first reports of the swine flu outbreak. According to KLIV 1590 "Charter flights from the U.S. military will be taking off and landing at Mineta San Jose International Airport during the next few weeks -- but it's all very mysterious. Airport spokesman David Vossbrink says the military is not providing any details about the flights, but there will be a significant number of them." Humm... 137 people in Mexico...20 dead... pockets of outbreaks in US, France, Netherlands, Asia, and the Middle East... no reason to close the airports or borders... may be SARS or SARS like... may not be .... no deaths outside Mexico but the WHO has issued a warning of possible pandemic... Baxter has got it covered though... no worries, tami flu to the rescue.. they will cure you or kill you... but who else ya gonna call? If you think the media is spinning in circles..and the experts are confused... then the elites agenda is definitely working... Fear and Panic everywhere...every channel... Just remember All The Worlds A Stage... best to get things in order in our own back yards... prepare for the next phase... This is just a dry run... imho of course. :)

OK... this is starting to get out of hand, much like I had hoped to avoid - the "pandemic" is a figment of our imagination thanks to media hype and public frenzy.

Only 7 swine flu deaths, not 152, says WHO

April 29, 2009

A member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has dismissed claims that more than 150 people have died from swine flu, saying it has officially recorded only seven deaths around the world.

Vivienne Allan, from WHO's patient safety program, said the body had confirmed that worldwide there had been just seven deaths - all in Mexico - and 79 confirmed cases of the disease.

"Unfortunately that [150-plus deaths] is incorrect information and it does happen, but that's not information that's come from the World Health Organisation," Ms Allan told ABC Radio today.

"That figure is not a figure that's come from the World Health Organisation and, I repeat, the death toll is seven and they are all from Mexico."

Ms Allan said WHO had confirmed 40 cases of swine flu in the Americas, 26 in Mexico, six in Canada, two in Spain, two in Britain and three in New Zealand.

Ms Allan said it was difficult to measure how fast the virus was spreading.

She said a real concern would be if the flu virus manifested in a country where a person had had no contact with Mexico, and authorities were watching all countries for signs of that.

"There is no pattern that has emerged at this stage to be able to say that it is spreading in a particular way or it is spreading into a particular country ... the situation is continuing to evolve," she said.

She said the WHO was not recommending against overseas travel, but urged those who felt sick to stay home and others to ensure they kept their hands clean.

No decision had yet been made about vaccinations.

"This virus is not airborne, it's caused by droplets ... so it's not a time for worry. It's a time to be prepared," Ms Allan said.

Here is a good sight that clearly lists all the cases by country and separates out the suspected from the confirmed from the dead and the quarantined:

Here is the latest update:
1st H1N1 death outside North America reported

Updated Sat. May. 9 2009 10:53 PM ET

The Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Costa Rica reported the death of a 53-year-old patient with the H1N1 virus on Saturday, the first death from the epidemic outside of the North American mainland, while a third death was reported in the U.S. and Japanese authorities scrambled to limit contacts with their first confirmed cases of the disease.

The Costa Rican man, who also had diabetes and chronic lung disease, was one of eight swine flu cases in the Central American country that have been confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Minister Maria Luisa Avila told The Associated Press.

In Seattle, the Department of Health said a man in his 30s, who had underlying heart conditions, died last week with what appears to be complications of swine-origin influenza.

Mexico has recorded 48 H1N1 deaths, three have been reported in the United States and Canadian officials say a woman who died last month had the virus.

Avila said officials had been unable to determine how the Costan Rican man who died became infected, but she said he had not recently travelled abroad. Many flu sufferers in other countries have been linked to recent trips to the United States or Mexico.

In Japan, authorities quarantined a high school teacher and two teenage students who returned Friday from a school trip to Canada after they tested positive at the airport. Australia and Panama joined the list of countries with confirmed cases of swine flu.

The chief medical officer for Alberta, Andre Corriveau, said Friday that a Canadian woman who died on April 28 had been infected with the H1N1 flu virus. The woman, who was in her 30s, had other health problems.

Officials said she had not left the country recently, but could not confirm whether she was in contact with anyone who had recently returned from Mexico.

The World Health Organization has that said based on past outbreaks, it is possible that a third of the world's population, or about two billion people, could become infected if this outbreak turns into a two-year pandemic. Independent experts agreed it was possible but pointed out that many would not show any symptoms.

People with chronic illnesses are at greatest risk for severe problems from flu, along with the elderly and young children. So far, however, most of Mexico's victims have been aged 20 to 49 and the disease has claimed few lives among the very young and very old.

A report by the CDC said the two U.S. swine flu deaths -- a toddler and a pregnant woman who both died in Texas -- each suffered from several other illnesses.

Mexico's federal Health Department said Friday that about a quarter of those who died there were obese or suffered from diabetes, while 11 per cent had cardiovascular problems and 9 per cent smoked.

It listed no complicating factors for most of Mexico's first 45 deaths, however, and none of them were reported to have respiratory ailments or other infectious diseases.

Hard-hit Mexico said only one new infection has been reported in the past four days and the country was gradually lifting a nationwide shutdown of schools, businesses, churches and soccer stadiums. It raised its count of confirmed cases to 1,626 based on tests of earlier patients.

Japan's national laboratory confirmed the virus in a teacher and two students who arrived in Tokyo Friday on a Northwest Airlines flight from Detroit. The Health and Welfare Ministry said it was working with the World Health Organization to contact at least 13 people on that flight who had gone on to other destinations in transit.

Local news media reported that as many as 11 people on the flight avoided screenings for swine flu.

Japanese Health and Welfare Minister Yoichi Masuzoe acknowledged it would be difficult to trace all those who came into contact with the three infected Japanese, who visited Oakville, Ont., on a home-stay program with about 30 other students. The three were isolated and recovering at a hospital near Narita International Airport.

"There are limitations to what we can do, but we will continue to monitor the situation and strengthen or relax such measures as needed," he told reporters.

Public broadcaster NHK TV urged people who were aboard the flight to call a special telephone number for consultations. So far, 49 have been traced and will be monitored for 10 days, officials said.

But a handful of cases have cropped up elsewhere in the region, including in South Korea and Hong Kong. The Chinese territory quarantined more than 200 people in a hotel after confirming its first case in a guest a week ago. They were released on Friday.

Australia reported its first case on Saturday in a woman it said was no longer infectious. She first noticed her symptoms while travelling in the United States, federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon told reporters.

New Zealand -- the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to confirm cases -- reported two more on Saturday for a total of seven. The two high school students returned last month from a school trip to Mexico. Six of the country's cases were in students and a teacher on that trip; the seventh travelled on the same plane as the group.

As I see this- most deaths are in those with already compromised immune systems
